Ren-Iz Shrine is one of the many puzzle shrines in Tears of the Kingdom that you’re likely to come across later in the game. That’s because, unlike many of the shrines across Hyrule, it’s hidden just off the beaten path. In other words, you can’t easily see it from a distance or while gliding through the air. Completing the shrine itself can be troublesome too.
We’ll covered how to complete Ren-Iz Shrine below, but first, let’s take a look at how to find it.
Ren-Iz Shrine is located in the Hyrule Field region of Hyrule. It’s fairly close to where you start your Hyrule adventure in Lookout Landing. However, it’s likely that you’ve passed right by it without ever knowing it was there.
The closest fast travel points for most players are Lookout Landing Skyview Tower and Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower. Ren-Iz Shrine sits almost exactly in the middle of the two towers. Alternatively, you can get even closer if you’ve unlocked Sepapa Shrine or Yamiyo Shrine.
After utilizing your fast travel point of choice, you need to head to the peak of Crenel Hills. That’s northeast of Lookout Landing Tower and southwest of Eldin Canyon Tower.
The shrine is hidden away inside an enormous tree trunk at the peak. There are two similarly sized hollow trunks at the peak, so be sure to look for the one to the east with the shrine and not the one to the west with the Like Like monster.
Check the screenshot above for the exact location of Ren-Iz Shrine on the map.
As the “Jump the Gaps” moniker alludes to, Ren-Iz shrine is all about getting fast moving balls across large chasms to complete the puzzles and open the doors to the next rooms.
In the first room, you’ll notice a large ramp, an orange plinth that can be activated with a strike, and a net type structure across the gap. To open the door, you need to strike the plinth, which turns it green, to drop a ball and have it make it into the net on the other side.
Grab the plate near the edge using Ultrahand and place it with one end on the white wall and the other on Link’s side of the gap. You need to place it just like in the picture above so that it creates a ramp for the ball.
When you’re ready, hit the plinth to turn it green and release the ball. If you’ve placed your ramp successfully, the ball will make it to the net on the other side, and after several seconds it will activate the hidden hole switch to open the door.
Immediately as you enter the next room, if you look to the right, you’ll notice this shrine’s chest on a platform. Go to where this room’s plinth is and pick up the two plates using Ultrahand. Attach them together to form one long and flat plate so that they make a bridge.
Using this, you can bridge the gap to the chest platform. The bridge should look like the picture above. In the chest, you’ll receive a fairly useful Strong Zonaite Shield for your trouble.
After getting your shield, you need to use the same two plates to complete this final portion of the shrine. Unlike in the last room, there’s no way to balance a single plate to create a ramp.
Instead, attach the two plates together in a triangle formation so that the smaller plate lifts the larger one, turning it into a ramp. See the picture above for the ideal connection point of each piece.
When you have your homemade ramp, place it in line with where the ball rolls down. Make sure the start of your ramp is in the lowered portion of the floor so the ball doesn’t lose speed as it hits it.
When you’re ready, just strike the plinth, like in the first room, to send the ball into the net and activate the hole switch on the other side. Once again, the ball will take a few seconds to rest in the hole and open the door.
When the door opens, collect your Light of Blessing, and Ren-Iz Shrine is complete!
